Pounds and pounds of peanut butter

Pear - Creatively Mentoring Homeless Youth

So much happening in the p:ear kitchen! Kitchen Coordinator Lindsey Kennedy and a fantastic group of volunteers and donors have been busy to feed an average of 55 hungry youth a day.  From the depths of the pantry comes this update from Lindsey:

A third New Season Market  – the Williams Store – has joined our team of cooks, while Rose City Mortgage is doing another PB & J drive for us this summer and Urban Gleaners continues to be the backbone of our food program donating about 150 lbs a week.

Even in the warmer weather, coffee continues to flow with the strong support from Nossa Familia and Spella Caffe. We have had great groups come in to cook for us like CIP (Community Inspired Professionals) and Meyer Memorial Trust. Our kitchen is looking for more cooks and groups to help prepare lunch on Tuesday or Thursday.  If this interest you or your business please email and we will get you on the schedule.

We hope to partner up with the Portland Fruit Tree Project (hopefully twice this season) as well as visit a working farm to show the youth the true origin of our food.

Thank you to all the companies, volunteers, and engaged youth who are the reason why we can provide breakfast and lunch to 55+ youth a day.
